WELCOME: ELDER WESTBROOK & ELDER SMOOT

We love every new missionary who comes to the Australia Brisbane Mission....sometimes they come in groups, sometimes they come when they can come (there are times that they have to wait for their visa and it puts them on a different track to come when the visa is approved).
A BIG WELCOME TO
ELDER WESTBROOK (in the Chinese program)
& ELDER SMOOT

HAPPY EASTER 2016

HAPPY EASTER~~
We had a beautiful Easter Sunday in Brisbane!  We filled our dining room table with missionaries, recent converts, investigators, Senior missionaries and LOVE!
What a special time of the year.....how grateful we are for our Savior this Resurrection morning.
We testify that HE LIVES!
Our Savior lives and taketh away the sins of the world.
(CLICK ON LINK BELOW FOR BEAUTIFUL MESSAGE OF HIM)
 #HALLELUJAH

Hallelujah—Hebrew for “Praise ye the Lord.” But what does it really mean?
This Easter, find out how an ancient exclamation of joy, hope, and love is inseparably connected to the life and mission of Jesus Christ—
and His promise of new life for all.
"He is not here: for He is risen--"  Matthew 28:6

LOOK WHO WE RAN INTO: ELDER DOUBLE March 2016

"President Henderson....." A long ago familiar voice came from behind President Henderson as we walked to our car from the lookout at Mt. Coot-tha near Brisbane.  After hearing it again and recognizing it as someone calling for him, he turned around and there stood
We loved seeing YOU and grateful you persisted in calling out to President Henderson...good on ya!

KOOKABURRA SITS IN THE OLD GUM TREE....

We love hearing these fascinating Kookaburra's here in Australia and have always wanted to see what they look like when they "sing their song".  We have tried to spot them in the wild, but this video will have to do....for now  (we still have time to see one)!

Picture of a laughing kookaburra

The laughing kookaburra is well known both as a symbol of Australia’s birdlife and as the inspirational “merry, merry king of the bush” from the children’s song.
Native to the eucalyptus forests of eastern Australia, the laughing kookaburra is the largest member of the Kingfisher family, with females weighing up to one pound (455 grams) and growing to 18 inches (45 centimeters) in length. Its beak can reach 4 inches (10 centimeters) long and is used to snatch a variety of invertebrates and small vertebrates, including the occasional small snake. Since being introduced in western Australia and New Zealand, the kookaburra has angered farmers by preying on their fowl.
The laughing kookaburra has dark brown wing plumage and a white head and underside. Dark brown eye stripes run across its face and its upper bill is black. Its reddish-colored tail is patterned with black bars.
It gets its moniker from its manic laughter-like call. And its early dawn and dusk cackling chorus earned it the nickname “bushman’s clock.”
Laughing kookaburras are monogamous, territorial birds that nest in tree holes. Females lay one to five eggs, which are tended by a collective unit composed of parents and elder siblings. Fledgling kookaburras generally remain with their parents to help care for the subsequent clutch.
Laughing kookaburras are not currently considered threatened although loss of habitat is a primary threat to the birds. They have adapted well to human development and often inhabit suburban areas, which provide both food and shelter.

MISSION MIRACLE MARCH 2016

Two beautiful Sisters baptised into
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
They have both been such an example to those around them...especially to each other!  They have both had to work through challenges and have overcome them to experience a new life.  They are beautiful mothers and their children are following in their footsteps.

NEW STAKE CREATED -- March 20, 2016

Today a new stake was created in Queensland:
IPSWICH WEST STAKE
It was created with wards from the Centenary Stake and the Ipswich Stake....so two stakes divided to make threeThe Saints in these two Stakes are thrilled and we know they will be led by two incredible presidencies. What this means for the Australia Brisbane Mission is that we now have 11 Zones in the Southern area of the mission(12 total including the Northern Zone)
11 Stakes in Queensland and growing.....
* Two of the members of the Australia Brisbane Mission Presidency have been "transferred" to the Presidency in the Ipswich Stake....they will be wonderful leaders and will bless the great members in this stake.  They have the missionary spirit and so we know these two stakes will be focused on Hastening the Work.
