RETURN WITH HONOR

We had a mid-transfer FAREWELL to several of our great missionaries who have served valiantly in the Australia Brisbane Mission; we are grateful for the legacy they are leaving in this mission as they sacrificed school, employment, home/family, and social pursuits to dedicate their life to this missionary service.  It has been a pleasure to serve along side them for the past 2 years/18 months.
Safe Journey....

WELCOME ELDER & SISTER NORTH

It has been an incredible blessing for this mission to receive such wonderful Senior Missionary Couples; they provide so much support to a mission!  We are so pleased to welcome another great couple from St. George, Utah....

GOLDEN HARVESTER VIII

WELCOME NEW MISSIONARIES

We always love a SURPRISE....especially when it is the surprise of new missionaries arriving to serve in the Australia Brisbane Mission.
We welcomed 3 new missionaries mid-transfer:  one who is reassigned from the Sierra Leone Mission (due to the evacuation of the missionaries from that mission after the Ebola outbreak) and two missionaries from the New Zealand MTC who have been in English Language Training (one from French Polynesia and one from Apia Samoa).  They are wonderful missionaries and we are excited to have them in the mission!

MISSION MIRACLE

MISSION MIRACLE

This beautiful young lady was found through a part member family. Her mom was inactive. Elder Miller and Elder Campos initially contacted them and started teaching them. While Elder Miller and Elder Hodges were teaching, the mom returned from inactivity and set a date for September 14th. Then Elder Hodges and Elder Henson baptized her on the 14th of September and confirmed her on the 15th of September. This new convert was very good to teach, understood a lot for her young age and does understand the covenant she made. She also loves church and primary and wanted her baptism for sure. It was a good experience helping her come closer to Christ.
Love, The Lismore Elders

MISSION MIRACLE

THIS GREAT NEW MEMBER OF THE CHURCH of JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS was found in March by the missionaries at the bus stop and sort of forgotten about until the end of May.  Elder Lunt decided to call him and see if he would like to meet to learn more about the gospel.  He decided to meet up and take the lessons.  It was amazing to see how his desire increased he was able to quit smoking in 3 days and was successfully clean for 2 weeks leading up to his baptism.  Then he wanted to postpone his baptism but it was moved to a Friday instead of a Saturday and it was amazing to see how the ward backed him up and many people showed up for the baptism that had to make many sacrifices to be there.  It truly was a Joyful June!

MISSION MIRACLE

THIS NEW CONVERT had been in Brisbane 4 days when she met the missionaries!  She originally had planned to go to England for school but felt instead she should come to Brisbane so she cancelled her plans last minute and came to QLD.  She was sitting at the Bus stop waiting for a friend to help her get to where she needed to go.  Normally she doesn't leave the house if she would feel lost but since her friend could help her she decided to go out.  She met Elder Lunt at the Bus Stop in Sunnybank and said that she could meet him again.  She came to make friends at first but felt the Spirit.  After the first lesson the member helping teach said she would eventually be baptized.  She proved to be prophetic.  She came to church three times and in the process set a date for August 9th but after church the 3rd time she asked if she could be baptized sooner.  Of course that was great with Elder Lunt and Elder George, so she got ready and was baptized on the 26th.  At her baptism she told this story for the first time and was just grateful that she understands how baptism and the Atonement can help her progress in her life.

WELCOME ELDER & SISTER SHUTE

We are so happy to WELCOME a new Senior Missionary Couple to the Australia Brisbane Mission......we have been waiting 14 months and they have finally arrived:
ELDER & SISTER SHUTE
They have come with energy, love and willingness to wait patiently for their flat to be ready.  We are so excited for what they will add to the great Senior Missionaries who are here serving.  Elder Shute has a depth of experience with the Samoan people as a young missionary in Samoa, Mission President in Samoa and Temple President in Samoa.  There are many in Queensland who know him, love him and honor him.  He and his wonderful companion will be such a blessing!

ARRIVING MISSIONARIES - JULY 2014

WELCOME TO THE AUSTRALIA BRISBANE MISSION
TO THE NEWEST MISSIONARIES called to serve!
It has been six busy weeks and time once again for my favorite part of transfers; WELCOMING in the new missionaries.  They have been preparing their entire life for all that will happen in the next few years as they serve as a missionary.  Some are recent converts and their life has had a different kind of preparation, but ALL seventeen new missionaries will be loved, worked, and filled with the Spirit.  They have had their training in the Missionary Training Center and come ready to serve.  When they arrive we process them at the mission office, feed them some breakfast, watch safety videos, fill out paperwork for the mission and for Australia, interview with President Henderson,  go to the bank, have lunch at the mission home with Hazel Hillier, meet the Henderson family with Sister Henderson, receive their first training with President & Sister Henderson, MEET THEIR TRAINERS, get their bikes, pillows, mattress covers and depart with their trainers for their new area and to serve their first day in the mission!
WE LOVE THE "GOLDEN" SPIRIT that they bring to the mission!
We welcome these great missionaries from China, England, Thailand, United States, Papa New Guinea, Taiwan, New Zealand, and the Philippines.
