Conversion and Baptism MIRACLE
We met this wonderful new convert because of a referral from her sister who is a member. The first week we arrived in Mt Isa we met a 15 year old young man who told us he was a member but had been less active. We felt a great spirit about this young man and determined to help him become reconverted. He told us his mom was not active and not interested in the church. When we contacted this new member, we found she is the mother of the young man! She has had contact with the church at various times in her life but has chosen a different path. Just about 3 weeks before we contacted her she turned the missionaries away when they knocked on her door. When we met her, we immediately felt the love our Heavenly Father has for her and expressed those feelings. We had an immediate connection and she welcomed our visits. We started with the stop smoking program as well as teaching the discussions. She and her son had been disagreeing a lot and when we taught
about families, forgiveness, and the Lord's eternal plan, her heart was softened toward her son. As we taught about life after death and the plan of salvation - she cried and cried. She said, I wish I had known this years ago when I lost my Nan and Nanna. Her sister was our member present and testified as well to the truth of Heavenly Father's plan of happiness and how she knows they can be together forever. She shared that she had often dreamed of dying and standing at a large gate and not being allowed in. What joy we felt as the spirit testified to her that baptism opens that gate. She has a strong testimony and even shared it in Relief Society before she was baptised! On Saturday, June 28, she was baptized by her brother in law and confirmed on Sunday, June 29 by Elder Fenton. We are so grateful for the opportunity to meet this kindred spirit and reunite! We love her and Heavenly Father loves her. Now she understands that love and how it will grow and guide her forward. An added blessing is that her son is fully active now and preparing to be ordained a teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood!
