We had to use buckets to finish filling up the font; my rig to fill the bucket. |
Elder Telford and I, Elder DeMille, were emailing at the library on preparation day and of course there were other people there. Two of which were doing their own thing on the internet, but I overheard them whispering about us Mormons... I looked across the computer table and they asked me "are Mormons nice people?" hahah... well I said "yes" and then we returned to our own computer screens... when we were about to leave I started to talk with them briefly, then realizing my opportunity, I went to the other side of the table and crouched right by the Filipino man's chair as he excitedly spoke to me about previously knowing a Mormon many years ago and an amazing experience of him being saved by God..... well we exchanged details and departed. ... the next day in District meeting we get a call from an unknown caller and it was this great man! He wanted us to visit him.
Twenty to thirty years earlier, He had met a missionary, John Gardner. He said he gave him a bible but Andy felt like he had just left him without telling him where he had gone.... most likely a transfer. the years went by without noticing missionaries anymore.... Until the Lord made it possible to find him by making us a few hours later to email than we had planned.... if we had emailed before, then we wouldn't have met. Many miracles within This man was not living in good conditions, but we made the best of it and he changed as he began to understand true doctrine.
Well, the journey was long, and we were able to teach him almost every day to every other day for a few weeks, enduring many challenges and successes. He was very simple, and had funny behaviors, but he was so desirous to be "Fully Mormon" that we were able to help him achieve it. He was baptized on October 25th 2014. I wasn't able to see him be baptized because of transfers, but he called me, and I returned the call to congratulate him and this is what he said: "I feel so happy. I have never felt this good before, and I'm so grateful for the Lord, Jesus Christ, for helping me become a Full Mormon."
What a wonderful miracle!
