There was quite a storm here in Brisbane a few weeks ago. It started with a crack of lightening and within minutes there was rain and soon the sound of hail pelleting the mission home. We have never heard anything so interesting; as it sounded like someone was throwing rocks at the windows. We ran to the front door and walked out in time to see golf ball sized hail coming down...it was amazing. Then we started thinking of the cars that were parked outside and so we ran down to the driveway to pull in the car....problem....if those hail pellets dent metal on an automobile, they could do some damage on a person's body. President grabbed a plastic table and held it over his head and ran out to the car and pulled it in.
Damage Report:
- There were many missionary vehicles that were dimpled by the hail
- Winds reached in excess of 140kmph and there were 6,000 lightning strikes
- More than 100,000 properties without power, public transport passengers stranded, roads flooded, homes and cars damaged and trees uprooted.
- Damage of broken windows and even injured people walking on the streets was reported all over Brisbane.
- We learned from the Temple President that twelve windows were broken in the Temple and Angel Moroni was battered and bruised.
We live in the suburb of Ascot and the Temple is in Kangaroo Point.
