MISSION MIRACLE

Sister Bailey, Sister Cummings, Sister Cocker, Sister Marshall

The Sisters met this wonderful man while teaching English to his flatmates.  He is from Japan and wanted to improve his English so he joined in on our English classes.  We invited him to read the English and Japanese Book of Mormon side by side to help his English.  One day, he made us all sushi for lunch and we invited him to come to church the following Sunday and he said yes.  Since that Sunday he has come to church almost every week.  We began to teach him the lessons and had the help of Elder Kishi (from Japan) to teach him via Skype.  He was baptized by his friend and flatmate, who was a recent convert of 18 days and had just received the Priesthood.  It was a beautiful baptism even though the pool was cold.  

We were GQing one night and we came across this young man on his way to the pub; we started introducing the plan of salvation and Sister Cummings gave him a pamphlet with our phone number on it.  "This talks about where you came from, what you are doing here and where you are going."  It wasn't until he flipped the pamphlet over that I saw it was actually a Word of Wisdom pamphlet....interesting!
We didn't think anything would come of that experience besides a spot on the Mission Top 10.  However, a few days later, we got a text from this young man asking if we knew any good people for him and his roommate to meet....YES!  We had a YSA night with them and they clicked with the good Singles in the area.  They invited us over and we invited them to take the lessons.  He wasn't interested, but his roommate was.  She didn't really have a relationship with God, but that soon changed.  in just a few months she came to church every Sunday, read and prayed about the Book of Mormon and had a desire to be baptized.  She was baptized the same day as our wonderful Japanese member.
