We met this wonderful family because of an
active member of the Chermside Ward who told us about them. The following
Sunday, the family attended church. We set a time to visit them the following
week.
The family moved recently from New
Zealand. there was one unbaptised child in the family of 6. Her time at
church and during the lessons with the missionaries was always an opportunity
for her to learn. Being almost raised up in the church (her mother and
grandparents are members themselves), She knew of the doctrines and beliefs of the church.
During the lessons, she always understood
what we taught really well. Her simple and pure faith made her understanding
grow. The daily reading of the Book of Mormon with her grandmother gave her a
vision of the stories that she could easily relate to her own life. Her
conversion was subtle and line upon line, precept upon precept. The Gospel
“makes sense” to her; it is natural, a way of living for constant happiness.
Going to church activities solidified her
relationships with the members and eased her social conversion. Because of her
desire to be baptized, her church attendance invited the rest of the family to
come back to activity. Really soon, her brothers were passing the Sacrament and
her sisters enjoying their time at Young Women and Primary. Her grandparents
were really supportive and felt greatly blessed seeing their grandchildren
feeling the Spirit and fellowshipping with other youth.
This girl's baptismal date kept being pushed
for several weeks but her desire and commitment towards the Gospel didn’t
decrease. On the 04th of August, she was well ready to be baptized.
After her baptism, She bore a powerful testimony of the Gospel. She claimed
simply knowing the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, knowing that God does
answer prayers and that her family is blessed because of the Gospel.
